The Douglas Method helps clients to become more fully functioning so that they can enjoy all of the activities they love - like: dance, gardening, sport and playing with (grand)children.
(As well as the more mundane things we all need to be able to do e.g.lifting shopping, driving, carrying laundry.)
This is provided through small scheduled classes and individual clinical consultations.
That depends. Clients often report an almost immediate improvement.
However, most people require several sessions (between 3 and 6) to completely rehabilitate injuries, to learn the exercises and techniques that will keep them fit, and to embed new ways of using your body.
The initial consultation will last 60 - 90 minutes. The fee is £50. Further sessions cost £50 per one hour session OR you may choose (in consultation with Susan) to have half hour sessions at £30. Sessions will normally be scheduled every couple of weeks.
To be honest, probably. One of the main treatments used is myafascia tissue massage - this can't really be done over clothes, so you may have to go down to underwear. Don't worry, Susan is an extremely experienced professional and your privacy will be protected.
When and where are the classes held?
Classes are held in West Lothian, Mid-Lothian and Fife. Full details here: scheduled Douglas Method classes.
All class places must be booked by contacting Susan here...
The Douglas Method developed out of Susan's original Douglas Pilates classes. While the Douglas Method does incorporate some Pilates moves, it has a very different approach. If you have Pilates experience, then please do come and try the Douglas Method.
Susan does offer Evolved-PilatesTM classes - these are advanced classes and are only open to those who have undertaken at least a term's worth of Classic Douglas Method classes.
Please read the scheduled class information page for all of the practical details about the classes: times/locations; what to wear; what to bring, etc.
